Special shout-out to my friend Carri for the hashtag!
So, in a previous blog entry I discussed some New Year's Resolutions I was considering and had discussed how I wanted to complete 12 projects in 12 months. Well, after thinking about this for a bit, and realizing that January is one half over already, I've got some status updates on this month's project.
January is:
Finish the Pixie Dust Lap Blanket from Purl Bee. I've got one skein left to knit on this and then she'll be finished. Originally I had hoped to knit her up in the off white "snowflake" color, but it was sold out everywhere, so I chose a peacock blue shade that is fantastic. It looks like a night sky. I love it.
So ambitious am I, that I've already started my goal for February. In fact, I am so incredibly ambitious, I might go for two. TWO people. Two projects in the shortest month of the year. I so crazy.
February is:
Learning how to effectively and efficiently use Lightroom 4 as my main photographic workflow. I've been slogging up my hard drive with iPhoto sorting and event making, importing into separate folders on my hard drive then importing one by one into Photoshop for over two years now. Enough. It's made a mess of my hard drive. Is confusing for me and there are duplicates of large photo files everywhere. For whatever reason Lightroom has seemed difficult and elusive, despite the claims that it's intuitive and easy opposed to the crazy that is Photoshop. I relate this to my fear of crochet yet I embrace and love to knit even though crochet is suppesedly easier (it is definitely faster!). Looks harder to me!
But no longer shall I be daunted. I will actually read my LR3 book I bought over a year ago and hope that most of it adheres with LR4 which is what I actually have installed on the computer. For the month of February, all photos will be edited in Lightroom. Once I have Lightroom down to where I am comfortable with it, I will import from those catalogs into Photoshop for photos that I want to add something special.
But since this is a specialized and not-really-that-crafty project, I will likely do another one as well. Probably something knitted or sewn. I really need to take a photo of my craft cabinet to show y'all. It's not pretty...
Anyway- if you yourself are on Instagram, or twitter, or whatnot and are on board with a project a month, please feel free to tag yourself with #12in12in2013!
